Earlier this year, in June, Lisa Marie Presley‘s mother, Priscilla Presley, and her oldest daughter, Daisy Jones & The Six star Riley Keough, reached a settlement on who would inherit Lisa Marie’s estate. After a few months of legal battle, Keough was declared the sole trustee of her late mother’s will while Priscilla walked away with a large lump sum and fully paid legal fees.
Now, a couple of months after that drama came to an end, legal issues are striking the family once again as a private lending company, called Naussany Investments & Private Lending, LLC, filed a lawsuit against Lisa Marie’s estate. According to Entertainment Tonight, the lending company is suing the estate after Lisa Marie’s failure to pay back a May 2018 loan of $3.8 million.
Per the documents obtained by ET, in addition to taking out the loan, Lisa Marie “used her ownership stake in Elvis Presley Enterprises and Graceland” as collateral. In other words, Lisa Marie put her father Elvis Presley’s former home on the line if she didn’t pay back the loan.
According to the lawsuit, Lisa Marie had to pay the large lump sum in full by May 16, 2022 but stopped any contact with the company after March 23, 2022. Since then, the company has allegedly tried to contact her estate multiple times but reached no avail.
As a silver lining for Keough, who might be regretting her “sole trustee” right about now, the company is willing to compromise and not take legal action. Per ET, the company has offered to dismiss the lawsuit if Keough pays 75% of the $3.8 million borrowed, aka $2.850 million, within 45 days.
According to the documents, this wasn’t the first time Lisa Marie received a loan from the company. In fact, the late singer reportedly first borrowed $450,000 from the company in July 2016 and repaid it in full less than a month later.
Without knowing how much was left to Keough and her sisters in Lisa Marie’s estate, it’s hard to predict what step she might take next. With that said, however, it’s safe to say she might do anything to stop going to court over money yet again.
